Dr. B. V. Blagg Claimed At 74
Dr. Benjamin Vance Blagg of 4818 Kentucky Ave., South Charleston, died yesterday in
Kanawha Valley Hospital. He was 74.
Dr. Blagg came to South Charleston in 1917 where he practiced medicine until his death. He was a graduate of Eclectic Medical College at Cincinnati and a native of Capehart, Mason County.
Dr. Blagg had been in ill health for some time and had been in semi-retirement although maintaining an office in the apartment building where he resided. Before that, his ofice had been located on MacCorkle Avenue near Tag Galyean Motor Co.
More than a week ago he suffered a slight stroke and his death yesterday was attributed to a heart attack.
He was a member of Weekley EUB Church of Charleston, the Masonic Lodge South Charleson No. 168 AF & AM, York Rile Bodies of Charleston, the American Medical Assn., West Virginia Medical Society and the Kanawha County Medical Society.
He is survived by sons, Dr. John S. Blagg of South Charleston, and B. V. Blagg II, an atorney in Washington, D. C.; daughter, Mrs. Lisa Jeanne Burlingame of Charleston; mother, Mrs. Luemma S. Blagg of Point Pleasant; brothers, Donald O. of St. Albans, and Okey C. of Point Pleasant; sisters, Mrs. Belva Smith of Point Pleasant, and Mrs. Eula Scholl of Cincinnati; and eight grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in Snodgrass Funeral Home at South Charleston by the Rev. G. Bryan Blair and the Rev. Denver Miles. Burial will be in Point Pleasant Cemetery.
The family suggest that memorial contributions be made to Kanawha Valley Hospital.
