Ernest Lee Simms Sr.
HINES — Ernest Lee Simms Sr., 77, passed away Sunday, Aug. 5, 2007, at his
home following a short illness.
Born Sept. 1, 1929, on Simms Mountain, Rainelle, he was a son of the late
Jesse Fred and Freda Mae Simms.
He was an electrician and was retired from Westmoreland Coal Co. He was an
active member of the Gordon Freewill Baptist Church at Charmco, where he
served as Trustee and assistant Sunday School Superintendent.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Dotson Simms of Hines; a son, Ernest Lee
Simms Jr.; two sisters, Virginia Rogers of Atlanta, Ga., and Erma Simms of
Laurinburg, N.C.; three brothers, Shelton and Lewis Simms, both of Flint,
Mich., and Eugene Simms of Charmco.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Gordon Freewill Baptist Church at
Hines with the Pastor Karle Griffith officiating. Burial will follow in the
Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at Wallace & Wallace Chapel of Rainelle.
