RACINE - King 'Spike' Pettry III passed away at his residence on Tuesday, August 26, 2003, at the age of 47.
He was born in Charleston, WV, on October 28, 1955, the son of the late King Dewey and Melba Geraldine (nee: Heinz) II.
Mr. Pettry served his country with the United States Army First Airborne Division from 1975 until 1977. On August 9, 1979, in Ohio, he was united in marriage to the former Velma J. Steinmetz. He had been formerly employed by First American Rental Center.
Surviving are his wife, Velma J. Pettry; their son and his girlfriend, King Dewey Pettry IV and Lauren Peters, all of Racine; four sisters, Geri (Mike) Wenger of Finley [sic], OH, Paula (Ray) Waller of Florida, Sharon (Ray) Collins of Lake Wales, FL, and Jennifer Colvin of Greenville, OH; and brother-in-law, Frank Steinmetz, and sister-in-law, Joy Steinmetz, both of Racine.
Mr. Pettry is also survived by his nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, August 30, 2003,
