- Death of J. Q. A. Crane
The many friends of Mr. John Q. A. Crane, and the typographical fraternity in particular, will learn with sincere regret through this announcement the fact of his death, which occurred at his late residence 165 Plum Street, at 5:30 yesterday afternoon. Mr. Crane was a native of Greenbrier County, W. Va., where he was born in 1836, being at his death in his forty ninth year. He came to Cincinnati with his family in the spring of 1868, and had made this city his home ever since, and was engaged all the time in the composing room of the Commercial and Commercial Gazette, where his ability, industry and integrity had made him a valued and trusted employe [sic]. Some two months ago he was stricken with paralyisis, which finally terminated in his death as stated. All that medical skill, the loving care of relatives and the solicitude of numerous friends could do to alleviate his sufferings and restore him to health was done, but in vain. His widow and three grown children who survive him have the heartfelt sympathy of a large circle of friends who will sadly miss his cheerful face and cheery words in their loss of a loving, devoted and untiring husband and father.
