- Obituary -- John Edward Meadows
John Edward Meadows, 85, of Meadow Bridge, went home to be with his Heavenly Father, Sunday, September 9, 2012 at the home of his daughter surrounded by his loving family.
Born January 17, 1927 at Charmco, he was the eldest child of the late John William and Verona Orkney Cadle Meadows of Rupert.
John was a World War II veteran, serving in the United States Navy. His love and zeal for life was exemplified in all that he did. His warm smile and generous spirit has touched innumerable lives. Whether you knew him as "Johnny Junker", "Ebb", John Edward, or just John, you knew that you had met one of life's greatest examples of humility. John would not have been considered a rich man by earthly measures, but his wealth was contained within his name. "A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favor rather than silver and gold." Proverbs 22:1.
In addition to his parents, John has now been reunited with his brother Frank Norris Meadows and his 2 sisters Claudine McClung and Eulene Wykle.
He now awaits the homecoming of his loving bride of 65 years, Rose Juanita Ruth Meadows, along with his children, Dennis and wife Elaine of Springdale, Donna O'Dell and husband Gary of Clintonville; his grandchildren Stephania and husband Chip of Springdale, Garrett and wife Karen of Clintonville, Matthew and wife Kimberly of Rupert, Kimberly and husband Kerry of Springdale; his great-grandchildren Kyle, Levi, Elaina, Marshall, Meredith and Kristyn and husband Chris of Jumping Branch, and one great-great-grandchild to come, Christopher Asher; brothers Garland and wife Jeanette of McRoss, Charles and wife Betty of Rainelle, Monroe and wife Diane of Green Sulphur Springs; and one sister Dorrine Goddard and husband Rev. Eddie Ray Goddard of Chattanooga, Tennessee along with numerous nieces and nephews.
John's life will be remembered 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 12, at the Sewell Valley Baptist Church, where he was a member for over 40 years. He will be laid to rest in the church cemetery with military rights by the Oak Hill V.F.W. Post #3110. Friends and family will gather from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 11, at the church.
