WINCHESTER, Va. — Eugene H. Cales, 88, of Winchester, formerly of Greenbrier County, died at home, Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010 at 2:45 a.m.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy S. King of Linden, Va.
Eugene is survived by his wife, Frances M. Cales; a daughter, Deborah C. Wright of Winchester, Va.; six grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren, all living in Virginia. He is also survived by two brothers in West Virginia and a sister in Virginia and one sister in Mississippi.
Gene was a man who was truly gifted with his hands. He worked both as an electrician and welder in the coal mines of West Virginia and as a master welder, building ships in the early stages of WW II. He also taught welding at Greenbrier West High School from 1968 to 1974. Gene was devoted to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, his wife, family, and country. He will be extremely missed by family and friends.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 15, 2010 at Morgan Funeral Home in Lewisburg. Burial will follow in Rosewood Cemetery, Lewisburg.
