Lon Gaylon “Bud” Shafer, 73, of Frametown passed away Oct. 23, 2009, at St. Francis Hospital, Charleston.
Bud was born in Greenbrier County and is survived by his wife, Alta Sparks Shafer; sons, Wayne, Ronnie and Clayton; daughter, Sissy Duffield; grandchildren, Dwayne and Shane Duffield, Kelly Ballenger, Terri Jo Dodd, Gregory Shafer, Brooke Shafer and Taylor Shafer; great-grandchildren, Brenna Dodd, Slayton Dodd, Sahra Dodd, Drew Duffield, Madison Duffield and Ian Ballenger; sister, Lenora Fleshman; and several nieces and nephews.
Bud was a resident of Braxton County for 47 years and was a coal miner and heavy equipment operator on highway construction projects. He attended Frametown United Methodist Church.
Bud never met a stranger and his home was always open to friends and family. His kind, loving spirit will live on in the hearts of all the lives he touched. He will be missed and cherished by his friends and family.
May Bud rest in God’s peace and grace.
Service was 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, at the Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway, with the Rev. Larry Conrad officiating. Burial was in Chapman Cemetery, Servia.
