Rupert Resident Dies; Rites Slated
RUPERT (RNS) -- Oather H. McClung, 73, died Thursday evening at his home after a short illness.
Born at Rupert, Oct. 18, 1899, he was a son of the late Alex and Latuna Smith McClung.
He was a retired coal miner and a member of the Rupert Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Nina Bennett McClung; five daughters, Mrs. Frances Cales of Hines, Mrs. Florence Anderson of Ravenswood, Mrs. Frankie Meadows of Winterville, Ohio, Mrs. Naomi Pitsenbarger of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, and Miss Martha McClung of Rupert; six sons, Oather H. Jr. of Ironton, Ohio, David of Millersport, Ohio, Delmas of McLeansville, N.C., Sgt. Larry stationed in Zweibrucken, Germany, and Donald and Dennis, both of Richwood; a sister, Mrs. Xerdie Shafer of Clintonville; a brother Calvin of Quinwood; 23 grandchildren and 5 greatgrandchildren.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in Smathers Funeral Home Chapel in Rainelle with Rev. Ernest Martin and Rev. P. E. Orndorff in charge. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Nettie.
