John Marshall Smith, 50, of 213 Crawford St., died at his residence at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday after a long illness.
Employed as a crane operator with the Empiure Steel Company of Mansfield, Ohio, he was a member of the Fairdale Freewill Baptist Church.
Born May 29, 1915, at Crawley, he was a son of Mamie Thompsion Smith and the late Edward Smith
Survivors other than his mother inclkude his wife, Ruth Hubbard Smith; a son, John Jr., of Mansfield, Ohio; three daughters, Mrs. Jesse (Nancy) Athey and Mrs Carl (Janet) Lilly, both of Beckley, Miss Anette Smith at home; a brotehr Everette of Crawley; four sisters, Mrs. Thelma Hall, Mrs. Louise Hall, and Mrs. Willie Shitz, all of Dunbar, and Mrs. Fannie Thomas of Crawlery, and six grandchildren.
