SIDNEY SMITH DIES AT HOME
RUPERT, DEc. 2 -- Sidney M. Smith, 75, well known Rupert resident, died suddenly late last night at his home on the Big Clear Creek Road. Death was attributed to a heart attack. Son of Joseph and Lucinda Crane [Smith], he was born on Big Mountain near Rupert and had spent his entire life in the Rupert community.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Laura McClung Smith, two daughters, Mrs. Beulah Withrow of Rupert, and Mrs. Billie Smith of Tampa, Florida, and two sons, Noel Smith of Charleston, and Joseph Smith of Rupert, also eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. One son, Norval K. Smith is deceased.
Other survivors are a sister, Mrs. Goldie Dorsey of Nettie, Nicholas County, and two brotheres, Edward Smith of Corliss and Charlie Smith of Baltimore, Maryland.
Funeral service will be conducted tomorrow, Saturday, at 2:00 p. m. at the Big Clear Creek Baptist Church of Rupert, of which church deceased was a member. The church pastor, Rev. Harry J. Simms, and former pastor, Rev. Homer C. Piercy of Summersville will officiate. Interment will be at The End of The Trail Cemetery.
