- Obituary of Joseph S. Hines
RUPERT -- Joseph (Joe) S. Hines, 83, died Sunday, July 23, in a Greenbrier hospital following a short illness.
Born April 11, 1906 at Hines, he was the son of the late W. L. and Minnie Zopp Hines.
Mr. Hines was a 27 year resident of Rupert, a member of Victory Temple in Rupert, a Navy World War II veteran, and a retired foreman for the West Virginia Department of Highways.
He was prceeded in death by a sister, Della Hines Moore, and two brothers, Ted and Luster Hines.
Survivors include a wife, Evelyn Cales Hines,; fice daughters, Ramona Oney of Dobson, N.C., Patty Willey, Betty Lanham, Gloria Puffenbarger, and Nina Shaffer, all of Rupert; a son, James D. (Jackie) Cales of Rupert,; three sisters, Carrie riley and Ollie Young, both of Charleston, and Lena McClung of Hominy Falls; two brothers, Fred Hines of Canvas and Cecil Hines of Hines; 20 grNdchildrenand 18 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Wallace and Wallace Fuenral Home Chapel in Rainelle witht eh Rev. Felix Baker officiating. Burial will be in the Wallace cemetery in Clintonville.
