- Obituary of Edward Ebbets Crane
E. E. Crane, a respected citizen and farmer of Crawley, this county, died at this home last Saturday morning, April 2, 192, at 5 o'clock following a short illness of pleurisy and pneumonia developing from influenza.
He was 57 years old and was born and reared in the neighborhood where he died, a son of the late Joseph and Matilda Crane.
Surviving are his wife, who formerly was Miss Mary C. Reynolds, and four children: Orlie Crane late of Chicago; Mrs. O. L. Suttle of Crawley, John Crane of Alderson, Mrs. Pauline Hines of Charmco. A brother, Steven Crane, and his aged mother also survive. Mr. Crane was a member of the Baptist Church, and funeral services were held at Amwell Church on Monday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. Mr. Bowling and Rev. Homer A. Piercy, of Rupert.

Book 1B, Page 98, Year of 1887, Line 36. There is evidence that Joseph and Malinda were living together as far back as 1869, but perhaps did not formally marry until 1887. Joseph gives his age as 44 instead of the computed 48, and Malinda gives her age as 32 instead of the computed 39.
