Arlo Ralph Gibson Jr., Captain-US Navy-Retired of Winter Park, Florida passed away at the Hospice of the Comforter, Altamonte Springs, Florida on September 27, 2016.
Captain Gibson funeral is 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Orlando, 300 South John Young Parkway, Orlando, Florida 32805 with Pastor Alan Kircher, to officiate. The family will receive friends at the church from 9:30 AM until service time. Following the church service, graveside services and full military honors will be at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, Florida 33513 with the US Navy Military Honors Team and the VFW Post 10209, to officiate.
A native of Lynn Haven, Florida and a local resident since 2005, when he moved here from the Paris Island United States Marine Corps Base in Beaufort, South Caroline. Captain Gibson retired as the United States Marine Corps Camp Chaplin. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War Ear and was discharged as a E-5. He then went to school and entered the US Navy as a Staff Corps Officer Chaplin; Chaplin Corps Officer and Supervisor Chaplin. During his 29 plus year career, he was awarded a Legion of Merit; Meritorious Service Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters; Meritorious Service Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters; Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters; Navy Unit Commendation Medal; Fleet Marine Force Ribbon; Navy Expeditionary Medal; Navy Defense Service Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters; Southwest Asia Service Medal; Sea Service Deployment Ribbon with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters; Navy Artic Service Ribbon; Navy and Marine Corps Service Ribbon with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters; Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia); and the Kuwait Liberation Medal.
Preceded in death by his parents, Arlo Ralph and Winona (Holcomb) Gibson, he is survived his loving family, his wife, Linda Gibson of Winter Garden, Florida; his daughters; Elizabeth Joy Gibson, ESQ of Winter Garden, Florida and Rebekah Lynn Cribbs and her husband, Captain Donald Anthony- US Navy of Honolulu, Hawaii; a sister, Marilyn Richard and her husband Michael of Ashville, North Carolina and grandchildren: Abigail Faith Cribbs; Joshua Conner Cribbs; Lydia Grace Cribbs and Caleb Michael Cribbs.
