- Obituary -- Sarah Purchase Phippen
The daughter of Aquilla and Ann (Squire) Purchase [ref. Great Migration Begins], she was baptized Aug. 6, 1626 and married Gameliel Phippen of Boston before 1649.
"About 1870 some old gravestones were dug up in Carlton Place near Eliot St., Boston, one bearing the inscription: 'Here lyeth buried ye body of Sarah Phippen, ye wife of Gamaliel Phippen, aged 55 yrs. Died January ye 17 ____'"
The year of her death was probably about 1682/3.
