- Obituary -- Ralph James Hamrick
QUINWOOD — Ralph J. Hamrick, 72, of Quinwood, passed away late Saturday night, February 19, 2011, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Va., following a short illness.
Born November 22, 1938, in Randolph County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Edward H. and Fannie M. Swecker Hamrick. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Marjorie Marple, Marguerette Gum, and three infant sisters, and one brother, Edward "Junior" Hamrick.
Ralph was a member of the First Baptist Church of Quinwood, where he served as deacon and Sunday School superintendent. He was a retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding his 4-wheeler. Ralph also liked to restore automobiles and firearms.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ada Ruth Crane Hamrick of Quinwood; one daughter, Caris Hodgkins and husband Bill of Pekin, Ill.; two sons, Randy Hamrick and wife J'Nelle of Nettie and Ralph Hamrick and wife Holly of Wheeling; one sister, Monna Joyce "Tiny" O'Dell of Quinwood; one brother, Johnny Bob Hamrick and wife Vanessa of Loops Road.
