Memories of Steve Pittman, Daisy's great-grandson...
Everyone who knew my great-grandmother Daisy tells me that she was
always a kind, sweet, and nice lady who never met a stranger; a
contrast to my great-grandfather Lue, who was also very kind, but very
much quiet and reserved.
Daisy once took a bus trip from Ripley, WV across country, in the
1950s, to Riverside, CA to visit my grandparents who were stationed in
the Air Force at March Field. Daisy thoroughly enjoyed the trip,
talking with people on the bus and making new friends along the way.
She had a very outgoing personality, and her Crane family and heritage
was very important to her.
Grandpa (Hortis Dale Hanna) can tell you how much Daisy loved and
enjoyed the family and Crane Reunions from the 1950s and 1960s; she
attend all those reunions with her brothers and sisters who were
living at that time.

Obituary - Frances Maries McClung Cales
WINCHESTER, VA - Frances Marie McClung Cales, 94, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 27, 2018, at her home in Winchester, VA.
Born on April 22, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Oather H. and Nina I. McClung of Rupert.
Frances was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She was a gifted seamstress, wonderful cook, homemaker and a friend to all. She loved everybody and never met a stranger. Even though she lost her vision several years ago to an eye disease, macular degeneration, that did not slow her zest for travel and visits to family and the beach. She truly was remarkable with the ability of hearing someone’s voice she knew and quickly able to call them by name without her vision. She was a godly example of unconditional love. She didn’t just teach it, she lived it.
In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Eugene Cales; her daughter, Dottie Swogger King; three sisters, Florence, Frankie, and Dorothy; and two brothers, Junior and Dennis.
Frances is survived by one daughter, Debbie and husband Lewis with whom she made her home; six grandchildren, Angie (Mike) Myers, Wes (Lynn) Swogger, Doug (Sheila) Swogger, Lewis (Lindsey) Wydner, A.J. (Rachel) Wydner, Gina (Chris) Jewell; fifteen great grandchildren, Richard and Rachel Myers, Melanie, Lynn, and Jake Swogger, Josh (Anna) Swogger, Joseph (Kimberlie) Swogger, Jonathan Wydner, Ysabella, Abigail, and Elijah Wydner, Maxwell Turner, Laylen Combs, Gavin and Edyn Jewell; four brothers, Don (Deanna), David (Terry), Delmas (June), and Larry (Janey) McClung; and two sisters, Naomi (Bill) Pittsenbarger and Martha McClung; and multiple nieces and nephews who all loved her.
