G.L. "Sam" McCommack, 82, of Marmet died Saturday, Aug. 3, 1996, at home after a short illness. He retired from DuPont, Belle, and was an Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a member of the DuPont Belle Plant Club. He owned and operated McCommack's Bicycle Shop, Marmet. Surviving: wife, Katherine "Kay" McCommack of Marmet; sisters, Mildred Walker of Marmet, Betty Pundt of Spring Hill, Fla.; brothers, Harley of St. Albans, Frank of Charleston, Emil of Marmet. Service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Leonard Johnson Funeral Home, Marmet, with the Rev. Kent Lowther and the Rev. Wayne Chambers officiating. Burial will will be in Marmet Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 8129. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.


Sam married Anna Katherine KING, daughter of Garland Dolphus KING and Mattie Walker "Nannie" CRANE. (Anna Katherine KING was born on 15 Jan 1923 in Greenbrier Co., WV,55 died on 23 Jun 2005 in Charleston, Kanawha Co., WV 55 and was buried on 27 Jun 2005 in Marmet Cemetery, Marmet, Kanawha Co., WV 66.)
