LEWISBURG \emdash Lewis Elon Feamster, 93, of Lewisburg, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2013, at the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Ronceverte.

Lewis was born April 16, 1920, in an apartment over Strealey's Restaurant on Washington Street in Lewisburg, the son of the late William Elon Feamster and Estelle Clayton Lipps. The family moved into the Old Greenbrier County Library and lived there three years and his brother was born there in 1925.

He was a graduate of Lewisburg High School. He served his country in World War II as a sergeant with the 4th Repair Squadron 4th Air Depot Group as an airplane mechanic serving in Australia, New Guinea, Luzon and the Philippines. He was employed by Kroger nine years and with VEPCO 39 years.

Lewis was a 75-year member of Lewisburg United Methodist Church serving as a Trustee and a member of the Official Board. He was active in American Legion Post 69, the Fairlea Ruritan Club and Greenbrier Valley Antique Car Club. His hobbies were hunting, woodworking, gardening and antique cars.

He was proud of his heritage through Dr. Cyrus A. Rupert (great-grandfather) for whom the town of Rupert was named and William McClung (great-great-grandfather) the first white settler in Rupert.

Lewis was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Gillespie, Nellie Rupert Feamster and brother, William Feamster.

He is survived by: his wife of 65 years, Dorothy King Feamster; son, Donald Lewis Feamster (Patty) of Cleveland, N.C.; daughter, Nancy Turner of Morgantown, W.Va.; grandson, Shiloh Travis Turner of Morgantown; step-grandson, Shawn McClung (Bobbi) Alderson; step-great-granddaughter, Lauren Comi, Morgantown; nieces and nephews, Betty Lou Gillespie Young, Jeff, Pam and Sarah Feamster; and three special young ladies who were like daughters, Linda Dunbar Redmond, Meg Tuckwiller Munton and Susie Cole Handley. Special friends Dorothy and Jeanette Albaugh.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, November 2, 2013, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Chapel in Lewisburg, with the Rev. Rick Brown and the Rev. Beth Peters officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Rosewood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, November 1, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m.
