STAUNTON - Lila Lee "Shorty" (Wilkerson) Shawver, 68, wife of Alva William Shawver Jr., of 512 Houston Street died at 10:01 p.m. Monday (May 17, 2004) in the Augusta Medical Center, Fishersville following an extended illness.
She was born June 29, 1935 in Augusta County, a daughter of the late Cecil Lee and Malinda Frances (Shumate) Wilkerson.
Mrs. Shawver was employed as an office manager for Webster and Webster in Verona. She was a member of Verona United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband, family members include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jeffrey Calhoun of Staunton, Jeffrey and Patty Shawver of Fort Defiance; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda and James King of Swoope and Rebecca and Charles Black of Aiken, S.C.; a sister and brother-in-law, June and Patrick Flavin of Verona; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. A sister, Violet Leach, preceded her in death.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Thursday (May 20, 2004) at Verona United Methodist Church by the Rev. David M. Burch. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. today in the Henry Funeral Home.

Shorty married Alva William "Bill" SHAWVER Jr., son of Alva William "Red" SHAWVER Sr. and Hazel Grace RIDER. (Alva William "Bill" SHAWVER Jr. was born in Aug 1927 in Fayette Co., WV 359.)
